WHAT TO BRING
Regardless of what program you picked, you will want to make sure you have the following items with you for check-in:

  • Your confirmation email: You may want to take a screenshot ahead of time in case you don't have service.
  • A Valid ID: We will need to confirm the identity of the person who booked the lesson at check-in.
  • We STRONGLY urge you to arrive early. Lessons depart on time and we will not wait.

ALPINE ADULT SCHOOL

  • CHECK-IN: If you need rental equipment and/or a lift ticket, please check in 1 hour prior to the start of your lesson at the Alpine Rental Shop. If you do not need rental equipment and/or a lift ticket, you can check in at the Alpine Rental Shop 30 minutes prior to the start of your lesson to retrieve your lesson voucher. Please be booted up and ready to go.
  • MEETING TIME & LOCATION: We will meet 15 minutes prior to the start of the lesson on the snow between the Alpine Rental Shop and the Treeline Cirque Chairlift.
  • PARKING: Parking reservations are required in the Alpine lots on Saturdays, Sundays, and select holidays this season. If you have a lesson booked on one of these days, a promo code to book your parking will be emailed to you. If it is not a Saturday, Sunday, or select holiday when reservations are required, parking is first-come, first-served.


ALPINE KIDS SCHOOL

  • CHECK-IN: All Kids Lessons will start from Alpine Kids, located on the lower level of the Alpine Lodge closest to Treeline Cirque. Please check in for Morning and Full Day lessons by 8:45am and for Afternoon lessons by 1pm.
  • PICK-UP: You will pick your child up from the same area you dropped them off at Alpine Kids. Pick-up time for Full Day lessons is 3:15pm. Pick-up time for Afternoon lessons is 3:30pm.
  • PARKING: You may park temporarily in the drop-off area while getting your child set up. After they are set up, you will have to move your vehicle to a long-term space. Parking reservations are required on Saturdays, Sundays, and select holidays this season. If you have a lesson booked on one of these days, a promo code to book your parking will be emailed to you. If it is not a Saturday, Sunday, or select holiday when reservations are required, parking is first-come, first-served.



PALISADES ADULT SCHOOL

  • CHECK-IN: All Kids Lessons will check in at the Palisades Kids School in The Village at Palisades Tahoe. This building is located in The Village at Palisades Tahoe. Signage will direct you there, and you can also identify it as the building with the bell tower closest to the new Red Dog chairlift. Please check in for Morning and Full Day lessons by 8:45am and for Afternoon lessons by 1pm.
  • PICK-UP: You will pick your child up from the same area you dropped them off at Palisades Kids. Pick-up time for Morning lessons is 12pm. Pick-up time for Full Day lessons is 3:15pm. Pick-up time for Afternoon lessons is 3:30pm.
  • PARKING: There is no drop-off or pick-up area directly in front of Palisades Kids. Parking reservations are required on Saturdays, Sundays, and select holidays this season. If you have a lesson booked on one of these days, a promo code to book your parking will be emailed to you. If it is not a Saturday, Sunday, or select holiday when reservations are required, parking is first-come, first-served.

WHAT TO WEAR
If you're planning on visiting us for an extended period, you might want to check out our full Lake Tahoe Packing Guide which gives an in-depth look at what to bring in any season. Otherwise, here are some quick tips to help you have a smooth day:

  • Warm Layers: You'll want a base layer (like long underwear), a mid-layer like a thermal sweatshirt, and a warm waterproof down jacket on top.
  • Snowpants: Even on warm days, you'll want waterproof pants on the bottom.
  • Sun & Eye Protection: The bright snow can be blinding, and on warm days, sunburn is possible. Bring sunscreen and be sure to have the right goggles.
  • Extremity Protection: Gloves, warm socks, and hand or toe warmers are also good things to have with you.
  • Off The Snow: You should plan to wear a helmet, but you may want a warm winter hat and sunglasses to wear before and after your lesson.
PARENT/GUARDIAN TIPS

Registration

  • Arrive at registration early. It can take up to 30 minutes to register.
  • Your child will need time to pick up their equipment, adjust to the surroundings, and meet other children and instructors without feeling rushed.
  • All children participating in a lesson are required to have a signed Release of Liability every season.
  • Review our ski & snowboard level descriptions to know which level your child is. Instructors will evaluate during the lesson individually, but can be difficult if the child's skills are marked too high. Class adjustments may be made during the lesson. A child's skill level can change with the snow conditions.

WHAT TO BRING
Please label all belongings and make sure children are equipped with the following when they enroll:

  • Sunscreen above SPF 15
  • Appropriate layered clothing to be outdoors for several hours, no need for a hat because our rental package includes a HELMET (Helmets are required)
  • Waterproof gloves or mittens. If it is snowing consider bringing a second pair
  • Goggles are required on a windy or snowy day and goggles or sunglasses on a sunny day
  • Don't forget to add a snack in your child's pocket.

PARENT/GUARDIAN INFORMATION

  • Parents who wish to watch children in their lesson should watch from a distance to help keep the child's attention on the instructor.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes early to pick up your child if you would like to talk to your child's instructor.
  • Each child will receive a report card at the end of the lesson so that the parents will know what skills were worked on in the class.
  • Instructors will also make suggestions for the next step of instruction.
  • Be supportive and encouraging with your child no matter how they do in class.
  • Remember, children all learn at different rates and weather conditions play a big part.
  • Please note that these programs are on-snow and physically demanding. Palisades Tahoe's Ski & Snowboard Schools are not daycare facilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you are running late, we cannot accommodate you for your scheduled lesson time. We will try to fit you in to an afternoon lesson if you are late for a morning lesson. Otherwise, please call 1-800-403-0206 to reschedule.
Cancelation Policy

Please use the Palisades Tahoe Lessons cancellation form to submit for your cancellation. Please do not call or email to cancel your booking. Lessons, clinics, and guides are fully refundable until 3 pm 2 days prior to your lesson. Group Lessons and daily Clinics that are canceled after 3 pm 2 days prior to your lesson will incur a $50 cancellation fee. Private Lessons and Guides that are canceled after 3 pm 2 days prior to your lesson will incur a $100 cancellation fee. Same day cancellations or no-shows are non-refundable. 3-Day Camps are fully refundable until 3 pm 7 days prior to start of Camp. Cancellations made within 7 days of the Camp start date are non-refundable.
Yes, your equipment is good for a full day of use. Equipment needs to be returned by 4pm each day. If you have a lesson scheduled for the next day as well, let the staff at either the Alpine Rental Shop or the Ski & Snowboard School Rental Shop at Palisades know. The staff will put your equipment aside for you overnight.
We encourage guests to take a break whenever needed. If you need a break other than those being taken by your group, simply let the instructor know and determine a place that you will meet back up. Your instructor will familiarize you with restroom locations at the beginning of the lesson.
If it does not disrupt the class, you may leave early. If you choose to leave early, you will not be eligible for any type of refund. We encourage you to stay for the entire class.

For children, the parent/guardian must have the claim check in order to pick up your child. The instructor may not have time to discuss your child's progress unless the parent/guardian comes back after the class is over.

If your child does not want to ski or snowboard once the lesson has started, we may call a parent/guardian. We can process a credit depending on what time the parent/guardian picks the child up. A processing fee will be charged in this scenario.
Please refer to our parking guide to ensure that you arrive on time. We understand that on rare occasions, traffic may prevent an on-time arrival.


Gratuities are not expected, but they are always appreciated by our staff.
