Ski California Safety Month Events
Throughout the month of January, Palisades Tahoe will be providing fun and educational opportunities for guests to participate in and sharpen up their safety skills at both mountains. Ski Patrol will be doing live demonstrations with their avalanche dogs demonstrating their ability to sniff human scent in the snow. Alpenglow Expeditions will be providing mini-avalanche awareness clinics where you can learn and practice your rescuing skills. There will also be free educational deep snow immersion clinics at both mountains! All events are free and open to the public.
Avalanche Dog Demonstrations
Join us and learn how our Avalanche Patrol Dogs do their jobs. Watch our incredible patrol dogs demonstrate their abilities by searching for human scent under the snow. If you're at Alpine meet us at the mid-station of Treeline Cirque chairlift at 11am to view our patrol dogs in action! On the Palisades side, meet at the patrol shack, top of funitel outside across from Starbucks at 10am.
Alpine Dates: January 16, 23 & 30 at 11am at the mid-station of Treeline Cirque
Palisades Dates: January 22, 29 & 30 at 10am at the patrol shack at the top of the Funitel (across from Starbucks)
Deep Snow Immersion Clinics
Join our Health and Safety Manager Erik Miller, for a quick educational session on tree wells and deep snow immersion. These clinics will be held at both mountains.

January 23: Palisades – 1pm Lost Lake Loop – near Mountain Run
January 29: Alpine – 11am Bottom of Subway
January 30: Palisades – 1pm Lost Lake Loop – near Mountain Run
Alpenglow Expeditions Mini Avalanche Awareness Clinics
Join Alpenglow Expeditions for mini avalanche awareness clinics. Learn from Alpenglow Expeditions professional guides about avalanche terrain and proper techniques on how to use your beacon, shovel, and probe. Don't have a beacon, shovel, or probe? Don't worry, Alpenglow Expeditions can provide them at each session. Each clinic will be 1 to 2 hours long with introductory lessons including avalanche terrain, how beacons work, searching technique, and digging technique. Each clinic will have limited availability.
