Start-up Mtn Camp, Mountain Camp, and Summiteers Seasonal Programs
Non-competitive, multi-week ski programs (Start-up Mtn Camp, Mountain Camp at Palisades, and the Summiteer program)focus on skill development, mountain safety, mileage, and fun.
The Start-Up Mountain Camp is an early-season program at Palisades offered the first two weekends of December (Dec 7th, 8th, 14th, and 15th, 2024). It is available to beginner skiers ages 3 to 13, and season passes and equipment rental are not included.
Mountain Camp at Palisades and Summiteer at Alpine include eight ski lessons (half-day or full-day options) for ages 3 to 13. We try to keep the same instructors with the same groups throughout the program, which runs from January through March. The program is available for all ski levels but does not include season passes or equipment rentals.
These programs focus on starting strong, having fun, and gaining skills while exploring the mountain.

Group Placement
The first day and a half is spent getting children into the appropriate groups, which is based on age and ability level. After the second week, we will not be making group changes. It is particularly important for attendance to be consistent, or your child may be dropped from the program. Instructors are focused on building techniques using appropriate terrain to develop abilities in anticipation of more challenging terrain. Our focus is on skill, using all-mountain terrain. Kids signed up for Sunday Programs must be skiing at an intermediate to advanced level.
Chairlift Riding Policy
Be advised that your child may be riding lifts alone or with other children or adults, while enrolled in these programs. Please review the most recent Children’s Chairlift Code of Conduct and help us to train your child to understand the importance of sitting back, holding on, and no fooling around, while on a lift. Please review our chairlift riding policies. We do our best to always have children ages 7 years and under accompanied by an appropriate companion.
Weather & Cancellation Policy
We will run regardless of weather conditions 99% of the time. It is exceedingly rare for us to cancel the program due to weather. However, if we need to cancel, we will determine a plan of action that morning. An email will be sent out as late as 8:30am regarding any changes. Please do not call the supervisor’s office as they have on-hill duties. It is your responsibility to participate in the days designated for the program. You may only participate on the day and time you registered for, and we do not offer makeup days due to absence. If the mountain closes prior to the start time of the program, that day will be cancelled, and no refunds will be issued. If one or more classes are cancelled due to mountain closure, we will offer no more than one make-up day the week after the respective program’s scheduled last day.
